ABOUT US
About Great Glen Distillery
Taking its name from the fault line that divides the Highlands, our distillery sources natural and local ingredients to give you a little taste of our majestic surroundings.
Great Glen is one of Scotland’s newest and, proudly, its smallest craft distillery. Harnessing the elements of a wild place, our smooth, earthy gin is our love letter to nature. Whether sipped by the water’s edge on a summers evening or enjoyed on wintery nights by the fire, our gin is the perfect companion.

Our Distillery
We distil Great Glen Gin and Inverness Gin at our recently built small distillery located right next to the famous Loch Ness Monster Exhibition in Drumnadrochit just 15 miles (25 km) from Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.
Our distillery couldn’t be located in a more dramatic and awe-inspiring place. Beneath our feet lies the Great Glen fault line, 62 miles long and the creator of the highest peak in the British Isles, Ben Nevis, a humbling 4413 ft. And just north from us is Abriachan, the village where the legendary ‘King of smugglers’ Donald Fraser distilled gallons of fine, duty-free whisky, prized for its unusual purity of the water. These geographical marvels and enchanting tales define our culture and make their way into every drop of our gin.

Our Natural Ingredients
THE MAIN INGREDIENT – Today’s rain is tomorrow’s gin. Our Highland water is one of the cleanest and purest in Scotland. It is filtered through countless layers of rock and earth before finding its way to Loch Ness and finally your glass.
- Sheep Sorrel for citrusy tartness and a lovely floral aroma
- Hand picked Wild Scottish Heather from around the Great Glen
- Locally sourced native common Junipers
- Frankincense – this is what gives our gin the aromatic notes

Our Local Area
Our local area is rich in fauna and wildlife. With just one step outside our door, we are surrounded by diverse wildlife, from the mute swan to the elusive otter. On a clear day along the waterside, you are likely to spot a grey heron standing motionless by the water’s edge waiting for its supper. We are often paid a visit by oystercatchers and soaring buzzards, and if you are very lucky, the magnificent osprey makes an appearance. Three kinds of deer also dwell in our woodlands; the Red deer, Roe deer and the imported Sika deer. Nature is all around us and unquestionably an essential part of our story.
